Mike Murphy

Contemporary R&B singer/songwriter Mike Murphy made his recording debut in 2005 with II Chance, preceded by its lead single, "Tap That." Long before he signed to Vibe Records and launched his recording career, Murphy grew up in Canton, OH, where he developed his singing voice as a member of the choir of his father's church. This son of a preacher man enlisted in the Army as a teenager and was stationed at Fort Polk, LA. While he did see some action in Bosnia during that country's string of unrest during the '90s, he also saw action as an entertainer, singing for the troops on numerous occasions. Murphy's break into the music industry eventually came in part courtesy of Hamza Lee, best known for his days producing Color Me Badd. Lee co-produced Murphy's debut album, most notably "Tap That." ~ Jason Birchmeier, Rovi
