Mike Florio

Lawyer turned sports commentator Mike Florio was born in Wheeling, W. Va., on June 8, 1965. Florio graduated from Wheeling Central Catholic High School and went on to amass two engineering degrees from Carnegie Mellon and a law degree from West Virginia University. After an 18-year career practicing law, Florio transitioned into sports commentary when he began writing for a sports blog in 2000. A year later, he created his own website dedicated to the NFL, ProFootballTalk.com, which included commentary from Florio, legal analysis, and news aggregated from elsewhere on the web. Ever the passionate football fan, Florio began dedicating himself to maintaining the site full time, and its growth eventually caught the attention of numerous organizations. In 2009, NBC partnered with the site, which opened the door for Florio to bring his analysis of the game to television. He began appearing on NBC's football programs to provide commentary and discuss the news of the day. He was a regular contributor to "Football Night in America" (NBC, 2006-). He appeared as himself in the film "Draft Day" (2014). Florio co-hosted "Pro Football Talk" (NBC Sports, 2016-), a TV program spun off his radio show of the same name. He has one child with his wife, Jill.
