They soon find the troubled teen dealt with more than her share of bullying at school, and as her condition continues to deteriorate, the team must delve deeper to get to the bottom of her mysterious illness. Foreman continues to work with Thirteen on the Huntington's disease drug trial, and their relationship progresses when he learns a valuable lesson from her. House gives a clinic patient an unbelievable holiday gift and keeps the team guessing about who may have sent him a particularly thoughtful Christmas present. Meanwhile, Cuddy receives an unexpected gift of her own.

Shirley asks Alan Shore to use his odious lawyering to help her defend a police officer accused of torture. Donny Crane returns and is the opposing counsel in Denny's case, with Chelina Hall as second chair, where a woman wants to sue her former boyfriend for saying no to her at the alter.

Drew feels left out when popular salesman Dexter Roberts hang outs with all the other employees and embarrasses Drew in front of the whole store. Drew finds out Dexter is throwing a huge company party and only Drew and Mimi aren't invited. The two put aside their differences and decide to crash the party and ruin everyone's fun.

The detectives investigate the death of a phone-sex operator and the kidnapping of a wealthy man's son; and Clark's tryst with a murder suspect is used to derail the prosecutor's case.

An apartment building, under construction at the former site of a well-liked community park, is ablaze. The charred naked body of a woman is found in one of the back apartments. Arson is suspected because of the chemicals found at the scene. Conventional wisdom is the arsonist didn't know someone was in the building, but now this is a murder investigation. It takes awhile, but they finally ID the victim - Karen Fried, a local elementary school teacher. She was last seen with Eric Shollar (Michael Leydon Campbell), the father of one of her students, but he's married and hesitant to talk to the cops when they approach him at home. Eric admits that he and Karen were having an affair and he brought her to the building under construction. He claims she was waiting for him while he ran out to buy condoms and the building blew before he got back.
