Michael Fuith

Austrian actor Michael Fuith is not afraid to appear unsympathetic to audiences. In his most famous role to date he portrays a pedophile in the film "Michael," one of the 2011 Cannes film festival's most talked about and controversial titles. The acclaimed actor began his training at Vienna's Pygmalion Drama School (Schauspielschule Pygmalion Wien) in the late 1990s and had his first screen role in 2003 in a short film in his native Austria. He later made his feature debut in the 2006 comedic drama "Kotsch" and was part of the cast of "Free to Leave" a year later, which was nominated for a Golden Leopard at the Locarno International Film Festival. In 2008, his profile was raised by his participation in the critically-acclaimed romantic film " Das große Glück sozusagen," which was a popular entry on the festival circuit earning various awards, including the audience award at the Angers European First Film Festival. Fuith played the role of a mysterious homeless man in the film, swirling in an orbit of strange circumstances. In 2011 he appeared in the comedic TV movie "Kebab mit Alles," but it was his disturbing turn as a predator in "Michael" that enhanced his reputation and made him a name to watch. The drama earned director Markus Schleinzer accolades at the Viennale Festival, the European Film Awards, and the British Film Institute Awards, in addition to a Palme d'Or nomination.
