A meek "pick-pocket" is accused of brutally beating a woman. Hunter and McCall unconvinced that he could do such a thing have to find the true culprit before it's too late.

Lauren, Charles' friend, is upset that her leading man in the school play is Buddy. Buddy is intent on doing the play to prove to Charles that he is not an under-achiever. Charles understands but asks him to keep his relationship with Lauren on a professional level. He explains he has a date with her and intends to take her on a ski trip. Charles pats Buddy on the back, accidentally causing Buddy to fall and sprain his ankle. Buddy recuperates in Charles' room and enjoys the attention he is receiving; so much so that he refuses to get well.
