Mary Scheer

Mary Scheer is an actress and comedian with a particularly strong talent for voices and impressions. She began her career in the late '80s with a few parts in small, obscure films, followed by a handful of TV guest spots, including episodes of the action drama "Quantum Leap" and the high school-based prime-time soap drama "Beverly Hills, 90210" in the early '90s. After appearing as a nurse in the "Saturday Night Live"-skit-turned-movie "It's Pat" (1994), Scheer joined the original cast of the Fox sketch comedy series "MADtv" in 1995, appearing on 63 episodes as well as writing for 66 of them--she stayed onboard until 1998. Scheer is known for her impressions, including those of Demi Moore, Kathy Griffin, Mary Tyler Moore, and former United States Attorney General Janet Reno. In 1999, Scheer joined the large writing staff for all 63 episodes of "The Martin Short Show," a failed single-season talk show experiment helmed by several comedian-writers, including Short himself. In 2001, she returned to her decidedly non-mainstream origins as a co-star in the comedy horror movie "Elvira's Haunted Hills," performing for a markedly different audience than those familiar with her more animated work. In the mid-'90s, Scheer brought her voicing talents to the Nickelodeon cartoon "Hey Arnold!" and more recently became one of "The Penguins of Madagascar," working alongside fellow "MADtv" alum Nicole Sullivan. Also on Nickelodeon, Scheer landed a recurring role onthe live action family comedy "iCarly" as Marissa Benson, main character Freddie Benson's mom, beginning in 2007.
