Martin Cummins

Canadian actor Martin Cummins' good looks and raw talent have helped him to cross over to Hollywood, with major roles in projects ranging from Canadian television series "Poltergeist: The Legacy" to United States sci-fi shows "Dark Angel" and "Kyle XY." Cummins launched his screen career with a starring role in the slasher sequel "Friday the 13th Part VIII: Jason Takes Manhattan." He was able to get small parts on plenty of United States TV shows throughout the first half of the '90s, until he played the meaty part of former Navy SEAL Nick Boyle in the Canadian horror series "Poltergeist: The Legacy." The show had a solid four-season run, after which Cummins starred in, wrote, and directed his first feature, the seedier-side-of- Vancouver indie "We All Fall Down." He won a Leo Award for the film, and also won a Canadian Genie Award for his role in the interracial romance "Love Come Down." He followed this with more TV work, notably as Ames White on James Cameron's cyberpunk sci-fi action series, "Dark Angel," with Jessica Alba. Unfortunately the show never found a solid audience, and after it ended in 2002 Cummins spent the rest of the decade going back and forth between small character arcs on prime-time dramas--primarily in sci-fi fare like the teen Superman hit "Smallville" and the mystery drama "Kyle XY"--while occasionally snagging roles in indie features.
