Marcela Guirado

Popular Mexican actress/singer Marcela Guirado was a staple of telenovelas - the soap-styled weekly series popular among Spanish-language viewers - and biographical series, including "El Cesar" (Space, 2017) and "Luis Miguel" (Netflix/Telemundo, 2018). Born in Guadalajara, Mexico, Guirado began her career in independent Mexican features before moving to play supporting roles in telenovelas for TV Azteca, the second mass media company in Mexico, as well as other production entities. Lengthy runs on the comic "Soy tu fan" (Once TV, 2010-) and the historical series "Asi en el barrio como in el cielo" ("So in the neighborhood as in heaven", TV Azteca, 2015), for which she also sang the title theme, led to more substantive turns in Telemundo's "Silvana sin lana" (2016-2017) and her first co-starring role in "El Cesar," a biographical series based on the life of boxer Julio Cesar Chavez, with Guirado as his wife, Amalia Carrasco. The following year proved to be one of her busiest to date, with a starring role in the romantic television drama "Tres Milagros" (2018) for the TV Azteca-owned cable channel Azteca Uno, and the feature comedy "Todo mal" for award-winning writer/director Issa Lopez ("Tigers Are Not Afraid," 2017). That year, she also enjoyed a featured role as famed Mexican actress/singer Veronica Castro in "Luis Miguel," a biographical series based on the life of the eponymous singer. Features, including the comedy "This is Tomas," a comedy-drama about a boy with autism, took up much of 2019, as well as a new series, "La Negociadora."
