Lorànt Deutsch

Born in Alençon, France to a French mother and a Hungarian father, actor Lorànt Deutsch initially pursued a career in soccer, but developed a passion for the theater while staying with his grandparents in Paris. He began auditioning as a teenager, and won his first television role in the 1994 series "Les intrépides," which he followed up with parts in several French commercials and bit roles in TV series like "Highlander" and "Pour être libre" while completing his university education as a Philosophy major. After receiving attention for his recurring role in the 1998 TV series "H," Deutsch went on to act in dozens of television movies and feature films in the 2000s, most notably the 2003 family comedy "Welcome to the Roses," the 2006 drama "A Year in My Life, and the 2008 period drama "The Maiden and the Wolves." In 2009, the actor became a best-selling author when his first book, "Metronome: L'histoire de France: au rythme du métro parisien," was published and sold over 500,000 copies. In that same year, Deutsch married actress Marie-Julie Baup, and the couple welcomed a daughter in 2010. 2010 also found Deutsch back on TV playing Nicolas Fouquet in the historical series "Le roi, l'écureuil et la couleuvre" and in 2011 he starred in the dramatic feature " Tu seras mon fils."
