Linda Bloodworth-Thomason

Television writer and producer Linda Bloodworth-Thomason was born in Poplar Bluff, Missouri and graduated from University of Columbia, Missouri. Upon graduation in the early 1970s Bloodworth-Thomason moved to Los Angeles and began teaching English in the Watts neighborhood. After teaching Bloodworth-Thomason moved into advertising and media, working as a freelance writer. Her first television writing work was in the form of several scripts for the TV show "M*A*S*H" (CBS, 1972-1983). She wrote scripts for "Rhoda" (CBS, 1974-78). Bloodworth-Thomason met Harry Thomason and the two began a romantic and collaborative professional relationship. Bloodworth-Thomason and Thomason produced "Designing Women" (CBS, 1986-1993), "Evening Shade" (CBS, 1990-94), "Hearts Afire" (CBS, 1992-95) and "Emeril' (CBS, 2001). Bloodworth-Thomason's work is dedicated to exploring the lives of women and particularly exploring the culture of men and women in the American South. She was given the Women in Film Lucy Award in 1994 for her contributions to the understanding of women through the medium of television. Bloodworth-Thomason also wrote a novel called "Liberating Paris" in 1994, and directed the 2013 documentary "Bridegroom" which premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival.
