Lew Parker

Brooklyn-born actor Lew Parker was actively involved in theater, both musical and dramatic, but he spent much of his career working in television. He was married to the actress Betty Kean, with whom he had a daughter. His first break came as Goldie McGoldrick in the 1948 film "Are You with It?" starring Donald O'Connor. Parker had guest appearances on several popular variety shows, including "The Jackie Gleason Show" and "The Steve Allen Plymouth Show." He worked with Lucille Ball on two of her post-"I Love Lucy" projects, "The Lucy Show" and "Here's Lucy," the latter of which turned out to be Parker's last appearance on television. Parker is perhaps best remembered as Lou Marie, the father of Marlo Thomas's character in the late-'60s comedy "That Girl," appearing in 52 episodes over the course of the show's five-year run. Parker died in 1972.
