Lauv
R&B-styled pop singer-songwriter Lauv infused his music with deeply personal emotions and experiences. He was born Ari Staprans Leff in San Francisco, and developed an interest in music early on. By the time he was 11, he had taken lessons on the piano, viola and guitar. He moved to New York City and earned a degree in music technology from New York University's Steinhardt School. He adopted the stage name Lauv before graduating. His first EP, "Lost in the Light," debuted in 2015. His songwriting frequently leaned toward personal feelings of romance, such as one hit single, "I Like Me Better" (2017), which drew from his experience finding love shortly after moving to New York to begin college. He also wrote and produced songs for other performers. DJ group Cheat Codes' single "No Promises" (2017), featuring Demi Lovato, was one of his more prominent collaborations. He began touring in 2017, stopping in eight U.S. cities. He followed this up with a series of promotional tours and opening acts for Ed Sheeran in 2017, then began his first world tour as a headliner in 2018.
