With a legacy of country talent behind them, Hillary Scott, Charles Kelley, and Dave Haywood formed Lady Antebellum in 2006. It started quietly, as the band performed across venues in their hometown of Nashville, Tennessee for their first year. By 2007, the group was signed to Capitol Records. Their first act as a member of the label was singing backup to Jim Brickman on the song "Never Alone" in 2007 and writing a song for the reality show "The Hills" (MTV 2006-2010). By the fall of 2007, though, Lady Antebellum started to strike out as a solo act. They released their lead single "Love Don't Live Here," complete with a music video before the end of the year. In the spring of 2008, their debut self-titled album launched, quickly becoming a smash hit. They released a number of other singles, including "I Run to You," which became their first number one single in 2009. That song earned Lady Antebellum their first Grammy Award win as well. Their second album Need You Now released in 2010 and was certified platinum within four weeks. Need You Now led to five more Grammy wins, including Best Country Album and Song of the Year. From 2011 to 2014, the band released a new album each year, with 2011's Own the Night earning another Grammy Award. After their run of consistent touring and five albums in five years, Lady Antebellum announced a hiatus in fall 2015 so Kelley could work on his solo career.
