Kym Johnson Herjavec
Kym Johnson began ballroom dancing at the relatively late age of 15, when she was dragged along to lessons by her brother, who decided it would be a good way to meet girls. Thinking at first that it was "daggy" she soon got the bug and it was not long before she was dancing competitively. In December 1998, she and then partner Tomas Atkocevicius came second at the Australian Dancesport Championships in the Open Amateur Modern ballroom. Johnson performed on the world tour of the modern ballroom stage show, "Burn the Floor." She further grabbed Australia's attention when she appeared on "Dancing with the Stars" (Australia) for three seasons, and as a result, also appeared in TV ads and dipped into the world of modeling with a sexy shoot for FHM magazine. More professional accomplishments included Former Australian Amateur Ballroom and Latin champion, finalist UK Ballroom Championships at Blackpool and the "Burn the Floor" world tour. Other highlights of her successful career include dancing at Elton John's 50th birthday party and appearing in the hit movie, "Strictly Ballroom." On "Dancing with the Stars" (ABC, 2005-) U.S. Version, Johnson memorably partnered talk show host Jerry Springer during season three, where they finished the competition in 5th place. In season four, Johnson and singer Joey Fatone came in 2nd place - dancing most memorably in a "Star Wars"-inspired Paso Doble, complete in a Princess Leia slave costume. Although she had yet to win an American "DWTS" season, she had already won the second season of the same show in Austalia.
