Ross jeopardizes a hospital study when he administers an experimental drug to a patient without the hospital's consent. Lucy begins her surgical rotation under Benton. Emergency personnel feverishly work to save the lives of children involved in a school bus crash. Mobalage's wife suffers from multiple stab wounds. Carter and Lucy refrain from sexual relations with each other due to hospital policy. Ross resigns from the hospital and decides to move to either Portland or Seattle. He asks Hathaway, his fiancée, to join him, but she declines. No criminal charges are filed against Ross for the death of Joi's terminal son. A day care worker suggests to Benton that Reese requires a "special needs" environment because he's exhibiting problem behavior. A cop, Reggie Moore, who Jeanie treats for a minor injury, asks her on a date. Eventually, she accepts. Greene ponders becoming an astronaut after a friend recommends him for a mission. Carter is annoyed by Edson's behavior toward Lucy. Hathaway befriends Joi Abbott, an exhausted woman taking care of her ill son.
