Ken Lynch

A character actor with a prodigious output of credited work, Ken Lynch specialized in playing tough police officers and military men in supporting roles. He began as a radio actor who made his TV debut on the mystery show "Suspense" in 1949 and had his first film role in the war comedy "When Willie Comes Marching Home." His first of many police officer roles occurred on the legendary sitcom "The Honeymooners" in 1956, and led to a variety of guest roles on anthology shows like "Alfred Hitchcock Presents." He also continued his film career and appeared mostly in low-budget features like the biopic "The Bonnie Parker Story" and the B-grade horror film "I Married a Monster from Outer Space." In 1958 he earned a recurring role as Pablo on the family western "Zorro." Lynch also appeared in supporting roles on several high-profile films, including the courtroom drama"Anatomy of a Murder," Alfred Hitchcock's whirlwind suspense classic"North by Northwest," and played a liquor store owner in the Academy Award-winning "Days of Wine and Roses." As his profile rose he had longer stints on shows such as the Western "The Virginian," the Jim Nabors vehicle "Gomer Pyle, United StatesM.C.," and in one of his only recurring roles, as Police Sergeant Grover on 16 episodes of the mystery drama "McCloud." Ken Lynch died on February 13, 1990 in Burbank, CA at the age of 79.
