Kate Moss
Kate Moss was an English model and entrepreneur born in Croydon, Greater London. The daughter of Linda Moss, a bartender, and Peter Moss, an airline employee, Moss was discovered at age 14 by Storm Model Management founder Sarah Doukas in JFK Airport. Her breakthrough shoot was for Corinne Day and The Face in 1990. She made her television and acting debut in the TV movie "Inferno" (1992), collaborated as a vocalist on a number of Oasis songs throughout the '90s, and appeared in numerous music videos for artists like Elton John, but Moss became known for her association with Calvin Klein and the "heroin chic" fashion look of 1996. The thin Moss marked a turn away from the more "curvy" supermodels of the 1980s like Cindy Crawford, and received attention and criticism for her low weight. She then starred in the short film continuation of the popular "Blackadder" TV series (BBC1, 1983-89), "Blackadder Back & Forth" (1999). By this time, Moss was a fixture of media and tabloid attention. She dated Jefferson Hack, an editor of English fashion magazine Dazed, throughout the early 2000s. The couple had a daughter in 2002, Lila Grace-Hack; Moss is also the godmother of Iris Law, Sadie Frost and Jude Law's daughter. Besides her well-known association with Calvin Klein, Moss has modelled for many major brands like Chanel, Burberry, Versace, Gucci, and many more. But in 2005, a number of her contracts were ended or suspended in the wake of high-profile cocaine abuse allegations. After charges were dropped in 2006, Moss resumed her high-output modelling career, although the companies she did work with in this period were the subjects of some controversy. In 2005, she also began dating Libertines co-founder Pete Doherty; the pair were engaged but broke up in 2007. The same year, Time named Moss one on of the world's 100 most influential people; she's also often placed highly on "sexiest women" lists from publications like Maxim and NME. Moss has designed clothing for retail outlets like Topshop, and appeared on Peter Blake's reimagining of his "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band" album cover artwork with prominent British personalities. Forbes listed her as the second highest paid model in 2012. Moss is a contributing fashion editor for British Vogue and appeared as herself in both "Zoolander 2" (2016) and "Absolutely Fabulous: The Movie" (2016). As mentioned, Moss has been a constant subject of media attention since her debut in the '90s, and following her 2016 divorce from The Kills' guitarist Jamie Hince (they were married in 2011), her relationship with German aristocrat Count Nikolai von Bismarck was no exception.
