Karla Souza

Born in Mexico City, Karla Souza spent much of her first 8 years living in Aspen, Colorado, before returning to Mexico City. She left again, to attend acting schools in France, Russia, and England, but again returned, this time to begin her career. After appearing in one episode of the Mexican TV show "Terminales" (Canal 5, 2008), Souza had a breakout role as a series regular on the teen-centric telenovela "Verano de Amor" ("Summer of Love") (Televisa, 2009). The series aired 120 episodes over the course of two seasons, both in 2009. She had small roles in a couple of American projects, "Persons Unknown" (NBC, 2010) and the feature "From Prada to Nada" (2011), then booked another series regular role on "Los Heroes del Norte" (Bandamax, 2010-12). This time, she was one of the leads in the Mexican sitcom. In 2012 she became a series regular in "La Clinica" (Cadenatres, 2012-13) another sitcom from the creator of "Los Héroes del Norte." She played a supporting role in 2013's international breakout hit, "Instructions Not Included," and the next year, made her debut in "How To Get Away With Murder" (ABC, 2014-). In the Shonda Rhimes-produced series, Souza played Laurel Castillo, an idealistic student of intimidating law professor and lawyer Annalise Keating, played by Academy Award winner Viola Davis. The series premiered to spectacular ratings and reviews.
