Julie Cox

Julie Cox is a British-born actress best known for playing Princess Irulan in the TV mini-series adaptation of the famed Frank Herbert sci-fi novel "Dune." Cox, whose father is an engineer in the oil industry, experienced an itinerant life for much of her childhood, residing in cities as far-flung as Jakarta, Melbourne, and Houston. Returning to England as a teen, she dove head-first into acting, earning a small part on a commercial. Encouraged by the experience, Cox further honed her craft by apprenticing for two years at a Paris theater workshop, and in 1994, she earned her first major film role as the Childlike Empress in "The Neverending Story III." A series of small parts in TV movies followed, but Cox made a turning point as an actor when earned a part in the Sci-Fi Network mini-series "Dune" as the refined Padishah princess Irulan Corrino. The role proved popular with fans of the series and was reprised on the 2003 sequel "Children of Dune." By the late 2000s, Cox once again began making inroads into feature films, appearing alongside acting greats Derek Jacobi and Vanessa Redgrave in the 2007 murder mystery "The Riddle," and John Hurt and Elijah Wood in the 2008 thriller "The Oxford Murders."
