Michael and K.I.T.T. go into prison to track down an inmate who committed a break-in. Using his connection with a prison warden, Jason Nelson uses inmates to commit break-ins. Julie and Samantha work together on assignments for Nelson. They set up their target, gain access to their home or office by pick-pocketing the keys, I.D.'s, etc., and deliver the money or other valuables to their boss. Nelson has complete control over the women through the prison warden, a shrewd and cold person named Brooks. Brooks' intimidating approach keeps young ladies like Julie and Samantha doing their "work." When the ladies gain access to the office of a businessman who had blueprints depicting a specific hotel, Devon's concern about the safety of an upcoming convention grows and Michael and K.I.T.T. track the inmates down.

Charles is put in the awkward position of helping and encouraging Lila, Jason and Douglas to seek out new and exciting extracurricular activities. The end result is that Jason dreams of soccer stardom; Lila sees herself as a cheerleader; and Douglas eyes the school band -- specifically the triangle instrument. Olympic gold medalist Julianne McNamara guest stars.

Jamie confides in Ellen and Charles that she has joined the 'Better Image School of Modeling.' She was in the mall when Miss Allison Lane, who runs the school, said she had potential as a model. Then she explains that once the beginner's course is over, she will need help to pay for the intermediate course which costs $389.00 Charles is convinced the school is a fraud. He and Buddy decide to check it out, and Allison immediately tells them they have potential as male models.

American Teen magazine is having a contest to pick the girl that best represents American teenagers. When Jamie, who wants to become a model, cannot write the essay necessary, Sarah tape records a speech for Jamie. Then she confides that she feels being a teenager is seven years of insecurity, doubt, and embarrassment. When the new issue of the magazine comes out, Jamie shows the family that Sarah is one of the ten finalists. Sarah is angry and blames Charles for sending in her essay.

When Buddy receives a new stereo cassette player from his parents, he sells his old unit to Charles for $47.98. Walter warns Charles he is buying a set of problems. Then Walter tells Charles the cassette player destroyed his Glenn Miller tape. Charles asks Buddy for the money back so he can buy a new tape for Walter, but Buddy insist the tape machine was working fine before he sold it to Charles. The argument becomes heated, and it appears their friendship is over.
