John 5
Born in Grosse Pointe, Michigan, John William Lowery, better known by the stage name John 5, is an American guitarist. At 17, after moving to Los Angeles, Lowery met Rudy Sarzo from Whitesnake. Sarzo asked Lowery to join his band, Sun King. Lowery began working on numerous projects with Bob Marlette including television show soundtracks, movie soundtracks including "Speed 2: Cruise Control," commercials and infomercials. Lowery teamed up with Rob Halford, Sid Riggs, James Wooley and Ray Riendeau to work on an industrial metal-inspired album, under the band name of 2wo. Lowery played lead guitar on David Lee Roth's 1998 release DLR Band. Lowery heard that Marilyn Manson was looking for a guitarist and decided to try out and was asked to join the band. Lowery became known as John 5. In 2005, Lowery formed the band Loser. At the same time, Lowery was also working for Rob Zombie. He could not do both so he decided to leave Loser, the band he had formed. In May 2021, John 5, along with Rob Zombie, Nikki Sixx, and Tommy Clufetos, formed the group, L.A. Rats. On October 26, 2022, Mötley Crüe announced that John Lowery, better known as John 5, would be joining the band.
