Joe Scarborough

Joe Scarborough was an American television and radio host specializing in political programming, and a former member of the US House of Representatives from Florida. Joining MSNBC in 2003 after his departure from Congress in 2001, his first show was the weekly opinion and discussion programme "Scarborough Country", which ran from 2003 to 2007. He then began the network's breakfast panel show "Morning Joe" (MSNBC 2007-) alongside co-host Mika Brzezinski. For an eighteen month period between 2008 and 2010, he and Brzezinski also hosted a late-morning radio show on New York's WABC station. Born in Atlanta, GA, Scarborough studied and subsequently practiced law in Pensacola, FL, played around town with his band Dixon Mills while he was still at college. His most high-profile legal case came in 1993 when he was assigned by the bar to defend subsequently convicted killer Michael F. Griffin. The following year he won the vote as Republican congressman of Florida's 1st district. He was re-elected three more times until 2000, when only five months into his last term, he announced his retirement to spend more time with his family. He returned to legal practice in the period before his entry to broadcasting, and subsequently become an author of political books aimed at Republican audiences. In May 2017, after longstanding rumors of an on-set romance, Scarborough and Brzezinski announced their engagement on the air.
