Jean Anderson

British-born Jean Anderson was a beloved actor, well-known for his memorable performances on the Hollywood movie screen. Anderson began his acting career with roles in such films as the drama "Lease of Life" (1954) with Robert Donat, "The Little Kidnappers" (1954) and the drama "Robbery Under Arms" (1957) with Peter Finch. He also appeared in the Ian Carmichael comedy "Lucky Jim" (1957), the dramatic adaptation "The Barretts of Wimpole Street" (1957) with Jennifer Jones and the drama "A Town Like Alice" (1958) with Virginia McKenna. His film career continued throughout the sixties and the seventies in productions like the Tommy Steele adaptation "Half a Sixpence" (1968), "Country Dance" (1970) with Peter O'Toole and "The Night Digger" (1971) with Patricia Neal. He also appeared in "The Lady Vanishes" (1979). Anderson was most recently credited in "Endgame" (PBS, 2002-03). He held additional roles in television including a part on "The House of Eliott" (1992). Additionally, he appeared on the television special "Death of a Ghost" (PBS, 1989-1990). Anderson passed away in April 2001 at the age of 94.
