Jasmine Mathews
Jasmine Mathews was an American actress who broke out in early 2018 when she joined the cast of "Heathers" (Paramount Network, 2018-), a TV remake of the 1989 black comedy starring Christian Slater and Wynona Ryder. Born and raised in Houston, Texas, Mathews began acting in plays while studying theater at Spelman College in Atlanta. Some of the plays she appeared in during this period included "Steel Magnolias" and "A Day in the Life." It was also during her time at Spelman that Mathews was awarded Miss Morehouse College and Miss Historically Black College and University. After graduating from Spelman with a BFA in theater, Mathews decided to pursue her acting education by attending grad school at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. While pursuing her Masters degree she appeared in numerous plays put on by the Nevada Conservatory Theatre, including such classics as "A Christmas Carol" and Shakespeare's "As You Like It." With several years of training behind her, Mathews graduated from UNLV in 2016 with an MFA in Theatre, ready to take Hollywood by storm. Upon arriving in Los Angeles Mathews quickly had success as an actress. In 2017 she nabbed a small role on the CBS crime drama "Blue Bloods" (CBS, 2010-), and followed that up with a guest spot on the Starz series "Sweetbitter" (Starz, 2018-) in 2018. With her fledgling acting career on the rise, Mathews nabbed her breakout role in 2018 when she joined the cast of the Paramount Network's "Heathers." The series premiered in early 2018, with Mathews playing the part of Heather McNamara.
