Jamie Anderson
Energetic snowboarder Jamie Anderson made her mark on the slopes as an Olympic gold medalist, and in the winter sports community as a philanthropist. She was born in South Lake Tahoe, Calif.. She had seven siblings and was homeschooled. The freedom enabled her to develop her skills in snowboarding beginning at the age of 10. She had a talent for slopestyle, and she became the youngest female Winter X Games medalist in 2005 when she won the bronze in the sport. For more than a decade afterward, she continued racking up medals at the X Games, including five gold: four in slopestyle and one in dual slalom. She was the women's champion of the 2007-08 TTR World Snowboard Tour. She became known for her smooth style and energy on the slopes. In 2013, she formed the Jamie Anderson Foundation as a means of inspiring young athletes interested in winter sports by providing financial assistance and access to facilities. When the Olympics introduced the women's snowboard slopestyle event at the 2014 Games in Sochi, Russia, Anderson competed and won the gold medal. She qualified for a return performance at the 2018 Winter Olympics in PyeongChang, South Korea. Once in PyeongChang, Anderson went on to win her second gold medal in the women's snowboard slopestyle event, followed by her third silver medal in the ladies' big air event. In April 2018, it was announced that Anderson would be joining the cast of Season 26 of "Dancing with the Stars" (ABC, 2005-) as part of a special all-athlete competition.
