Morse is viciously harassed by an unknown tormentor and finds himself a suspect, after a lady friend is knifed to death during a rehearsal of The Magic Flute. Morse begins his own investigation to solve the murder and pieces together evidence showing that his boss, Chief Superintendent Strange, is being framed.
