Jack N. Green

After graduating to director of photography with "Heartbreak Ridge" (1986), Eastwood's ambivalent war film about the less-than-glorious invasion of Grenada, Green went on to photograph the highly regarded "Bird" (1988). This respectful biopic of jazz great Charlie "Yardbird" Parker won nearly as much acclaim for its dark, moody visuals as it did for its powerful performances and meticulously recorded music. As director of photography, Green continued to collaborate with Eastwood on "The Dead Pool" (1988), "Pink Cadillac" (1989), "White Hunter, Black Heart" (1990), "The Rookie" (1990), the profoundly dark, revisionist Western "Unforgiven" (1992) which earned him an Oscar nod for Best Cinematography, the moody crime drama "A Perfect World" (1993) and the adult romance "The Bridges of Madison County" (1995). As a cinematographer, his other credits include "Race for Glory" (1989), "Deceived" (1991), Lizzie Borden's "Love Crimes" (1992), Christopher Cain's "The Amazing Panda Adventure" and Irwin Winkler's "The Net" (both 1995). Green made his feature directorial debut with "Traveler" (1997). Set in the contemporary American South, the film tells the story of an Irish con man (Bill Paxton) who falls for one of his victims (Julianna Margulies).
