Jack Donner

Characer actor Jack Donner is best known for his role as Tal in the original "Star Trek." Donner got his start in the early days of live television on shows like "Robert Montgomery Presents" and "Armstrong Circle Theatre." Donner's first official credits are the sci-fi horror film "Hand of Death" and the TV drama "Dr. Kildare." He guest-starred on sitcoms like "Get Smart" and "I Dream of Jeannie," and made 11 appearances on "Mission: Impossible." His role as Romulan sub-commander Tal in a 1968 "Star Trek" episode has since gained cult status among fans and was followed years later by a role as a Vulcan Priest in the spinoff "Star Trek: Enterprise." After several more B-movie roles and spots on "Police Story" and "The Streets of San Francisco," Donner became ill and gave up acting in 1977. After recovering--and going to college to become a psychotherapist--he returned to the screen in the mid '90s. He appeared on shows like "Frasier" and starred in the 1999 H.P. Lovecraft adaptation "Cool Air." In 2005 he began a recurring role as a butler on "General Hospital," and participated in daily re-enactments for "The Michael Jackson Trial" in 2005. His film roles also include starring in the straight-to-video thriller "Demon Under Glass" and a small part in the Vince Vaughn comedy "Four Christmases."
