Heather North

Southern California native Heather North was best known for voicing the character of Daphne in various incarnations of the "Scooby-Doo" animated series. North began her screen career in the mid-1960s, appearing in teen roles in episodes of TV shows such as "Gidget" (ABC 1965-66), "The Monkees" (NBC 1966-68) and "My Three Sons" (ABC/CBS 1960-1972), among others. During this period, she also appeared frequently on the soap opera "Days of Our Lives" (NBC 1965-) as Sandy Horton; she married "Days" director and producer H. Wesley Kenney in 1971, remaining married to him until his death in 2015. In 1970, she became the second person to provide the voice for Daphne Blake on "Scooby-Doo, Where Are You!" (CBS 1969-1970) and reprised the role as the willowy redhead Scooby Gang member throughout subsequent years. Aside from a featured role in the Disney movie "The Barefoot Executive" (1971) starring Kurt Russell, North largely stuck with TV guest star roles and the "Scooby-Doo" franchise, voicing Daphne in various '70s incarnations, including the series "Scooby-Doo and Scrappy-Doo" (ABC 1979-1980). Although North mostly retired from the part after the '80s, she returned to playing Daphne for a pair of 2003 straight-to-video movies, "Scooby-Doo and the Legend of the Vampire" and "Scooby-Doo and the Monster of Mexico." Heather North died of cardiopulmonary arrest on November 30, 2017 at the age of 71.
