Hampton Fluker

Hampton Fluker was an American actor who broke out in 2016 when he landed a starring role on the cop drama "Shades of Blue" (NBC, 2016-). Born and raised in Atlanta, Fluker took a rather unlikely path to acting stardom. A star athlete and standout student in high school, Fluker dreamt of becoming either a pro football player or working in the field of medicine. That all changed, however, after he watched Denzel Washington's transformative role in the 1989 Civil War drama "Glory." Inspired by Washington's performance as an African-American soldier fighting for the North, Fluker knew that acting was his calling. When it came time for college, Fluker enrolled in the acclaimed theater program at Boston University. While honing his acting craft in school, Fluker drew acclaim from theater critics all across Boston for his numerous theatrical roles in the city. He appeared in several critically-acclaimed plays both during college and shortly after, and was even written up by the Boston Globe as a young actor on the rise. After college Fluker started devoting more time to film and television auditions. He quickly nabbed a recurring role on the TNT series "Major Crimes" (TNT, 2012-), as well as guest spots on shows like "The Family" (ABC, 2016) and "Blue Bloods" (CBS, 2010). After years of relative obscurity as a working TV actor, 2016 proved to be Fluker's breakout year. In addition to nabbing a supporting role in "Patriots Day" (2016), a cinematic retelling of the 2013 Boston Marathon bombings, Fluker also joined the cast of the cop drama "Shades of Blue." That show, which starred Jennifer Lopez and Ray Liotta, debuted on the network in the fall of 2016.
