Greg Austin

Greg Austin was a British actor who became a source of intrigue for "Doctor Who" (BBC, 1963-) fans throughout the world when it was announced in 2016 that he was cast in the spinoff series "Class" (BBC Three, 2016-). Although little was known about Austin at the time of the announcement, his backstory showed a young man that worked his way up the acting food chain before nabbing his big break. He was born in England and got his start as a performer as a skilled ballet and tap dancer. Austin also proved to be an effective singer, primarily as a baritone. Austin could have easily spent the rest of his life as a professional singer and dancer - he was certainly good enough to make a living off of it. However, his true passion was for acting. When high school ended enrolled in the drama program at London's Arts Educational Schools. During college Austin had become such a skilled actor that by the time of graduation, he was already nabbing parts on TV. In 2014 Austin appeared on an episode of "Law & Order: UK" (ITV, 2009-2014), while continuing to audition for film and TV parts in London. Still fresh out of college, Austin landed his big break in 2014 when he was cast as Gordie Selfridge, the son of Jeremy Piven's character, in the ITV period drama "Mr. Selfridge" (2013-). Austin appeared in 30 episodes of the show, before breaking out once again in 2016 when he nabbed a part on the "Doctor Who" spinoff "Class." The show was a science fiction drama that centered on a group of teens as they dealt with the day-to-day annoyances of time-travel at their high school.
