Glynis Barber
Much like her South African counterpart Charlize Theron, Glynis Barber is blonde and beautiful. In the 1985-86 British ITV series "Dempsey and Makepeace," she was Detective Sergeant Harriet Makepeace, assigned in London to work with a banished New York City cop (Michael Brandon). The actress made her American co-star her second husband in 1989 and bore him a son in 1992. More recently, Barber joined the cast of the forever-running U.K. soap "EastEnders" in 2010 as Glenda Mitchell. The actress stepped into the part at the last minute, after the previously cast Jill Gascoine dropped out. Barber is a veteran of British TV soaps, having also played a part in the rural-town serial "Emmerdale Farm" and the hospital-set "The Royal." On the film side, Barber's career has been much more sporadic. Among her credits is the 1983 remake of "The Wicked Lady," starring Faye Dunaway, and the 1982 action-adventure "Tangiers."
