Glen Mazzara

Glen Mazarra is a television writer and producer, best known for his work on the hard-hitting cop show "The Shield," starring Michael Chiklis as the hyper-intense pitbull rogue cop Vic Mackey. Mazarra would produce and write for the first six seasons of the hit show, crafting tales of battered and bruised characters living lives of compromised, complex moral dilemmas. Mazarra's resume may not be the longest, but since then has built up an impressive track list of similarly dark yet entertaining dramas. After getting his start writing for the crowd-pleasing cop show "Nash Bridges" and his six years on "The Shield," Mazarra worked on the critically well-received but short-lived crime drama "Life" , as well as "Crash," based on the Academy Award-winning film of the same name and starring Dennis Hopper in his last role. Mazarra is an executive producer and writer for the medical drama "Hawthorne," starring Jada Pinkett Smith as the Chief Nurse Officer of a large urban hospital. The series adhered to same philosophy as other Mazzara's work: the conflict between a person's personal and professional life is always precarious. He also wrote the pilot script for the AMC zombie series " The Walking Dead."
