Giuliana Rancic
Giuliana Rancic was an Italian-American television personality born in Naples, Italy. Born Giuliana DePandi to Eduardo and Anna, Rancic immigrated to the United States with her family when she was seven. She had corrective surgery for scoliosis in her teenage years, and graduated from the University of Maryland with a bachelor's in journalism in 1996. She also achieved a master's in journalism at American University, and graduated from Barbizon Modeling and Acting School. Rancic worked for a Washington DC news bureau at this time, before landing an anchor/co-host gig on "E! News" (E!, 1991-present) in 2005. About this time, Rancic started appearing on "Most Beautiful" lists from outlets like Maxim and People due to her public exposure. She married entrepreneur and TV personality Bill Rancic in 2007; Bill had achieved prominence as the winner of the first season of "The Apprentice" (NBC, 2004-2017). The pair starred in their own reality show, "Giuliana and Bill" (E!, 2010-14), and were very open publicly about their infertility issues. The same year "Giuliana and Bill" started, Rancic joined "Fashion Police" (E!, 2010-17) as a co-host, alongside Joan Rivers, Kelly Osbourne, and George Kotsiopoulos. Giuliana was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2011, which was actually discovered as a result of a mammogram for an in vitro fertilization test. She underwent a bilateral mastectomy, and ultimately had her son Edward Duke Rancic via a surrogate in 2012. Rancic co-hosted the televised annual Miss USA pageants from 2011 to 2014, and founded Fab-U-Wish in 2013, a charity dedicated to granting wishes to women undergoing breast cancer treatment. She also launched an HSN clothing line in 2013, G by Giulana. Rancic left her position at "E! News" in 2015, and came under fire for her comments on Zendaya's dreadlocks at the 2015 Oscars; she commented that they looked like they smelled like "patchouli and weed." Rancic returned to her anchoring position at "E! News" in 2018.
