Gail Russell

Gail Russell was a big screen film actress known for powerful performances. Russell's career in acting began with her roles in various films like the Ginger Rogers drama "Lady in the Dark" (1944), "Our Hearts Were Young and Gay" (1944) and "The Uninvited" (1944). She also appeared in "Salty O'Rourke" (1945), "The Unseen" (1945) and "Our Hearts Were Growing Up" (1946). Her passion for acting continued to her roles in projects like "Angel and the Badman" (1947), "Calcutta" (1947) and the musical "Variety Girl" (1947) with Mary Hatcher. She also appeared in "Moonrise" (1948), "The Night Has a Thousand Eyes" (1948) and "Wake of the Red Witch" (1948). In the latter part of her career, she tackled roles in "Song of India" (1949), "The Great Dan Patch" (1949) and "The Lawless" (1950). She also appeared in "Seven Men From Now" (1956). Russell was most recently credited in "The Soul Man" (TV Land, 2012-16). Russell was married to Guy Madison. Russell passed away in August 1961 at the age of 37.
