Fairground Saints
Los Angeles trio Fairground Saints have an upbeat, breezy folk-pop sound that offers plenty of mainstream appeal with a sturdy, roots-oriented core. Initially an acoustic duo consisting of California natives Mason Van Valin (vocals, guitar) and Elijah Edwards (vocals, guitar, mandolin, Dobro), the two songwriters eventually recruited Michigan native Megan McAllister (vocals, guitar, dulcimer) to complete their lineup in 2014. The band's lush three-part harmonies and folky, melodic blend place them somewhere between Nickel Creek and Fleetwood Mac. After shopping around some early demos, they caught the ear of Verve/Universal, who paired them up with producer Matthew Wilder (No Doubt). Their self-titled debut arrived in August 2015. ~ Timothy Monger, Rovi
