Evan Jonigkeit

Evan Jonigkeit was an American film and TV actor who was best known for his roles in "X-Men: Days of Future Past" (2014), "Whiskey Tango Foxtrot" (2016), and the 2018 Starz drama "Sweetbitter" (Starz, 2018-), which was based on a popular novel of the same name. Raised in Bucks County, Pennsylvania, Jonigkeit never intended on becoming a professional actor. His first love was baseball, which he excelled in throughout high school. When college rolled around Jonigkeit accepted a scholarship to Temple University. He had every intention on continuing his burgeoning baseball career while at Temple, but a bout of tendonitis kept him off the field. Bored and with nothing to do, Jonigkeit stumbled upon the local theater company at Temple. He liked what he saw and started showing up a lot more, eventually taking classes. Before long, Jonigkeit fell in love with the theater and decided to devote his full attention to the craft of acting. Within a few years after discovering his love for acting, Jonigkeit was performing in plays in both Philadelphia and New York. It was also during this time that Jonigkeit began appearing in short films like "Calendar Girl" (2008) and "Miles to Go" (2008). As a theater actor, he nabbed his breakout role in "High" (2011) on Broadway. With the added exposure, Jonigkeit continued nabbing parts in Broadways plays, in addition to film and TV roles like "Girls" (HBO, 2012-17), "X-Men: Days of Future Past" and "Whiskey Tango Foxtrot." His screen acting continued to pick up steam with recurring parts on the TV shows "Easy" (Netflix, 2016-) and "Frontier" (Netflix, 2016-). Then in 2018 Jonigkeit nabbed his breakout part when he was cast as one of the leads on the Starz drama "Sweetbitter." The series, which followed a young woman working in a high-profile New York City restaurant, premiered on the premium cable network in early May of 2018.
