Erik Holland

Erik Holland has enjoyed a long and fruitful career as a character actor. His average-man appearance has helped him play all types of characters. Soldiers, doctors, policemen, lawyers, good guys, and villains--he has played them all and more. For over four decades he has appeared in a huge variety of roles, beginning in 1962 with an appearance on the sexed-up farcical detective program "Surftide 77." That same decade he also appeared in the crime series "The Fugitive" and the spy show "The Man from U.N.C.L.E." The next decade, he could be seen in shows like police drama "The Mod Squad" and action series "The Six Million Dollar Man." Although mainly a television actor, he has made many film appearances, including in the 1989 comedy sequel "Ghostbusters II," where he played the fire commissioner; the 1994 sci-fi film, "Stargate," as Prof. Langford, who discovers the stargate; and James Cameron's blockbuster romance, 1997's "Titanic," where he played Olaf Dahl, father of Helga Dahl. Since 2001, he has slowed working significantly, but can still be seen in the occasional role.
