Eric Prat

Examine French actor Eric Prat's filmography and the word "prolific" should immediately spring to mind. How else could one describe more than 80 appearances in film and television productions since 1980? Even more astonishing is the fact that Prat, who was educated at the prestigious Conservatoire d'Art Dramatique de Versailles, has also performed in more than 20 theater productions. Even the quickest glance at Prat's résumé will yield proof of his wide range, considering that he has performed in works by Shakespeare, Pirandello, Ionesco, and Pinter on the stage, while his screen efforts include appearances in action director Luc Bresson's crime hit "La Femme Nikita" (1990) and Christophe Gans' 2001 lycanthropic historical action-thriller "Brotherhood of the Wolf." Taking on small roles for the most part, Prat's first prominent film appearance was in the 1990 comedy-drama "Tatie Danielle," about a nasty old widow who moves in with her unfortunate great nephew (played by Prat) and his family, whom she proceeds to torment. Of his many television roles, his best-known is arguably that of Inspector Torrence, whom he portrayed during the first season of the mystery series "Maigret," based on the classic adventures of author Georges Simenon's sharp-minded sleuth.
