Eric Porter

British-born Eric Porter was a beloved actor, well-known for his memorable performances on the Hollywood movie screen. In his early acting career, Porter appeared in such films as the adaptation "The Fall of the Roman Empire" (1964) with Sophia Loren, the Anne Bancroft dramatic adaptation "The Pumpkin Eater" (1964) and the Kirk Douglas dramatic adaptation "The Heroes of Telemark" (1965). He also appeared in the Warren Beatty comedy "Kaleidoscope" (1966), the dramatic adaptation "Antony and Cleopatra" (1970) with Charlton Heston and "Hands of the Ripper" (1971). His film career continued throughout the seventies in productions like the Michael Jayston biopic "Nicholas and Alexandra" (1971) and "The Belstone Fox" (1973). Film continued to be his passion as he played roles in the Robert Powell thrilling mystery "The 39 Steps" (1978). Porter was most recently credited in "House of Cards" (2012-). He held additional roles in television including a part on "Anna Karenina" (PBS, 1977-78). He also was featured in the TV movie "Little Lord Fauntleroy" (CBS, 1980-81). Porter passed away in May 1995 at the age of 67.
