Don Ross

A prolific American character actor, Don Ross has more than 65 screen credits to his name. Ross began his career in show business during the early 1950s and started acting regularly on television in the late '50s, appearing on episodes of "Dragnet," "Cavalcade of America," "Bat Masterson," and "Johnny Staccato." In '59, Ross was featured in a small part in the Otto Preminger film "Anatomy of a Murder," starring Jimmy Stewart and Lee Remick, and, the following year, he appeared on the popular adventure show "Sea Hunt" for a recurring stint as a commanding officer. During the early '60s, Ross had minor roles in the feature films "The Absent-Minded Professor" and "What Ever Happened to Baby Jane?," and he popped up on numerous popular TV programs, including "The Outer Limits," "I Spy," "Gomer Pyle, United StatesM.C.," and "Gunsmoke." Aside from his brief "Sea Hunt" run, Ross never had a signature role, but he has the distinction of appearing on numerous episodes of the same series in various parts-notably, he was featured on the late-'60s revival of "Dragnet" more than 30 times, almost always as a different character, and he also played a number of roles on the "Dragnet" spin-off "Adam-12." Despite his low-profile parts, Ross continued acting during subsequent decades, remaining active long after retirement age.
