Dick Haymes

Irish actor Dick Haymes played a variety of strong roles in Hollywood cinema. Haymes started his acting career landing roles in such films as "Four Jills in a Jeep" (1944) with Kay Francis, "Irish Eyes Are Smiling" (1944) and "Diamond Horseshoe" (1945). He also appeared in the adaptation "State Fair" (1945) with Jeanne Crain, "Do You Love Me?" (1946) and "Carnival in Costa Rica" (1947). His passion for acting continued to his roles in projects like "The Shocking Miss Pilgrim" (1947), "One Touch of Venus" (1948) and "Up in Central Park" (1948). He also appeared in "St. Benny the Dip" (1951), "All Ashore" (1953) and "Cruisin' Down the River" (1953). Haymes was most recently credited in the Chris Evans romance "Playing It Cool" (2015). He also was featured in the TV movie "Betrayal" (ABC, 1974-75). Haymes also contributed music to the Kevin Bacon comedy "The Big Picture" (1989) and the dramatic adaptation "Married Life" (2008) with Pierce Brosnan. Haymes was married to Edith Harper and had four children. Haymes passed away in March 1980 at the age of 64.
