Abbott made film her next project, appearing in the Robert De Niro comedic drama "The King of Comedy" (1983) and "Love Streams" (1984) with Gena Rowlands. Later in her career, Abbott acted in the Richard Pryor biopic "Jo Jo Dancer, Your Life Is Calling" (1986). Abbott's husband was Robert De Niro.
