Deborah Rush
A veteran stage actress, Deborah Rush has also worked extensively in film and television. During the early 1980s, she appeared in minor roles in Woody Allen's fantasy comedies "Zelig" and "The Purple Rose of Cairo," and had a supporting part in Nora Ephron's mobster comedy "My Blue Heaven." Fans of TV comedies will likely recognize Rush as Sara Blank, the bitter stepmother of Amy Sedaris' lead character in the oddball series "Strangers with Candy." Rush reprised the role for the show's 2005 movie, and was subsequently featured in another dark comedy, "The Good Girl." In 2010, she joined the cast of the sitcom "Big Lake," but the series was quickly cancelled.
