David J. Burke

David J. Burke was a journalist for 20 years, an occupation which likely informed his crime-influenced creative endeavors. He penned the pilot and several episodes of Michael Mann's short-lived TV series "Crime Story" before moving to Stephen J. Cannell's underworld cult classic "Wiseguy." Aside from producing and writing there, Burke got his first taste of directing. Other highlights include co-creating and executive producing "Unsub," a forensics show starring David Soul of "Starsky and Hutch" fame, and lending a hand to help create, executive produce, write, and direct the critically acclaimed (but quickly cancelled) NYC--flavored drama "Tribeca." Among the talent aboard for that show was legendary actor Robert De Niro. In 2005, Burke wrote and directed the cop corruption drama "Edison Force" (also known as "Edison"), a feature film starring Justin Timberlake and Morgan Freeman. In addition to his journalism past, Burke was a documentary filmmaker and worked on political media for mayors and senators. He also has a production company, Montana Beach.
