David Del Rio

David Del Rio was an American TV and Broadway actor who was best known for his role as Felix Garcia on Nickelodeon's "The Troop" (2009-2011). Born and raised in a large Cuban and Colombian family in Miami, Del Rio always wanted to be an actor. He started appearing in school plays when he was just a teenager, and even began writing screenplays at the age of 14. Upon graduating from high school, Del Rio knew that the only way to turn his passion into a career was by relocating to New York City. It was there that he honed his craft by attending the New York Conservatory for Dramatic Arts, School of Film & Television. After graduating with a college degree four years later, Del Rio spent the next year and a half auditioning for film and TV roles - all without any luck. Undeterred, Del Rio stayed focused and continued to audition until he landed the part of Felix, a shy teenager who had to protect the world from monsters, on Nickelodeon's "The Troop." Del Rio appeared on all 29 episodes of the show before it was cancelled during its second season. The setback of having his TV show cancelled, however, was short lived, because in 2010 Del Rio made his Broadway debut as Sonny in the hit musical "In the Heights." After that Broadway run ended, Del Rio returned to TV, landing guest spots on shows like "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation" (CBS, 2000-2015). He also nabbed a supporting part in 2012's breakout musical film, "Pitch Perfect." In January of 2016 Del Rio returned to his musical theater roots, although this time in a televised version. He played Putzie in a 2016 TV adaptation of "Grease" called "Grease: Live!" The television special aired on the Fox network on January 31, 2016 to critical acclaim.
