Dale Midkiff

Actor Dale Midkiff sustained a steady career in film and television, playing diverse roles that only occasionally made the spotlight. After graduating from college in Maryland, Midkiff moved to New York City, working odd jobs as he pursued acting. He managed to win a leading role for his big-screen debut, as Melissa Leo's pimp in the gritty drama "Streetwalkin'." Later, as young J.R. Ewing in the TV movie "Dallas: The Early Years," he earned further attention, leading to one of his most notable parts: Elvis Presley in the TV movie "Elvis and Me." Midkiff turned out another memorable performance in the Stephen King horror adaptation "Pet Sematary," as a grieving father who lives near an Indian burial ground, before he moved almost exclusively to the small screen. One exception was the romantic comedy "Love Potion No. 9"--an early Sandra Bullock vehicle. Midkiff had a steady role as a cop from the future in the science fiction series "Time Trax." Another regular part on the Western series "The Magnificent Seven" saw him playing alongside Michael Biehn of "Terminator" fame. Beginning with the TV movie "Love Comes Softly," Midkiff took on the recurring role of a caring father in a lauded series of Christian dramas based on the writings of Janette Oke; he appeared in five of the films.
