Crispin Freeman

The field of voiceover work in Hollywood has been greatly expanded by the development of 24-hour cable TV children's programming channels. And Chicago-born voice actor Crispin Freeman is a perfect example of someone who has greatly benefited from that new, larger playing field. At the same time, his credits are not necessarily recognizable to anyone who does not spend a whole lot of time appreciating translated versions of Japanese feature film animation or watching the Cartoon Network, Nickleodeon, the Disney Channel, and their ilk. Freeman's extensive voice credits include Kyon on "The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya," a sci-fi comedy series about an eccentric young girl; Togusa in the crime mystery video game "Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex"; Straight Cougar in the action adventure "s-CRY-ed"; Itachi Uchiha in the popular series"Naruto," about three ninjas and the training they undergo; Alucard in the supernatural battle series "Hellsing"; and Zelgadis Greywords in "The Slayers," following the adventures of a teenage girl who seeks fame and fortune. Somewhat surprisingly, Freeman has indicated a number of times that the way he prepared for his career as a man of many voices was to master the art of Shakespeare.
