With only an hour before the fallout from the nuclear blast in Denver hits Jericho, Jake rushes to get the townspeople inside and away from the rain so that they won't get radiation poisoning.

Jake, Stanley and Mimi find themselves fighting for their lives when they run into several dangerous strangers on a hunting trip. While traveling outside the city limits in search of wild game, a truck pushes the truck that Jake, Stanley and Mimi are driving off the road, leaving Stanley unconscious and Jake pinned underneath the vehicle. Mimi realizes that she is their only chance of survival and heads back to Jericho on foot. Meanwhile, Hawkins discovers that he has put his family in grave danger, and Emily and Roger continue trying to rebuild their relationship.

The 1987 drive-by shooting death of a little girl, the innocent victim of what was assumed to be a gang retaliation attack, is reopened after the murder weapon suddenly turns up as part of the city's gun recovery program. Rush and the team discover the gun has had multiple owners, all of whom were affected in some way by its possession.

The team members attempt to recover a 5-year-old boy, Ethan Heller (Joseph Castanon), who was in the back seat of his family's SUV when it was apparently carjacked. They initially explore the possibility that kidnappers want to secure a hefty ransom from Ethan's affluent parents. However, they soon start to suspect Ethan's father, who his wife and colleagues report has been acting odd lately, and who, per his wife's insistence, has been staying at a hotel for the past week. Upon further investigation, the agents find evidence that the father has been contacted by the kidnappers and is foolishly attempting to handle the matter himself. Meanwhile, Danny notices the telltale signs of prescription painkiller addiction when Martin becomes excessively irritable and makes rash on-the-job decisions.
