Charles Edwin Powell
Texas-born actor Charles Powell earned small parts on independent features and B-films before appearing regularly on Canadian series television in the late '90s and the 2000s. A former junior competitive golfer, Powell switched course to acting in his late-teens. After relocating to Los Angeles to study his craft under former MGM Studios drama coach Zina Provendie and casting director Bobby Hoffman, he made his screen debut as an undercover cop on the daytime drama "General Hospital." A series of bit parts in TV movies and B-movie horror features followed, but Powell made his most lasting contribution on the Canadian children's education program "Popular Mechanics for Kids," a Parents' Choice Award-winning program aimed at teaching kids about the inner workings of machines. The series aired from 1997 to 2001 and was followed by the actor's appearance on the cult action-espionage show "Largo Winch" and the sports-themed teen sitcom "15/Love," in which he played President Harold Bates.
